How to choose a suitable planetary servo reducer

The information comes from:Internet Published on:2024-12-16

There are many types of gearboxes in the gearbox family, but planetary gearboxes are widely used in servo motors, stepper motors, DC and other transmission systems due to their small size, high transmission efficiency, wide reduction range, and high precision. Its function is mainly used to reduce speed, increase torque, and reduce the load/motor moment of inertia ratio while ensuring precision transmission.
The main transmission structure of the planetary gearbox is: planetary gear, sun gear, and internal ring gear.
When choosing a planetary gearbox, the first step is to determine the gearbox speed ratio. The general formula for calculating the speed ratio is speed ratio=input speed ÷ output speed. After determining the speed ratio, multiply the rated torque of the servo motor you selected by the reduction ratio, and the resulting value is generally smaller than the rated output torque of the similar reducer provided. At the same time, consider the overload capacity of the drive motor and the maximum working torque required in practice. After meeting the above conditions, the return clearance of the planetary gearbox should also be considered. The smaller the return clearance, the higher the accuracy, but the higher the cost. Customers can choose the series of reducers that meet their precision requirements. Next, we also need to consider the installation form of the gearbox,
After meeting the above indicators, you can choose a planetary servo reducer that is compatible with your motor in terms of installation size, shaft diameter, and input flange according to the product manual provided by our company Jinyuantai Electromechanical. Finally, you also need to consider the weight of the accompanying motor. A type of reducer is only allowed to be matched with motors that are less than a certain weight. If the motor is too heavy and runs for a long time, it will damage the input flange of the reducer.

Reduction ratio: the ratio of input speed to output speed.
Grade: The number of sets of planetary gears. Generally, the maximum level can reach three, but the efficiency may decrease.
Full load efficiency: The transmission efficiency of the gearbox under maximum load conditions (fault stop output torque).
Working life: The cumulative working time of the gearbox at rated input speed under rated load.
Rated torque: It is the torque allowed for long-term operation within the rated lifespan. When the output speed is 100 revolutions per minute, the lifespan of the gearbox is the average lifespan. If it exceeds this value, the average lifespan of the gearbox will decrease. When the output torque exceeds twice, the gearbox malfunctions.
Noise: Unit decibel dB (A), this value is measured at an input speed of 3000 revolutions per minute, without load, and at a distance of 1 meter from the gearbox.
