Why do encoders need to be installed on motors? How does the encoder work?

The information comes from:Internet Published on:2024-12-16

During the operation of the motor, real-time monitoring of parameters such as current, speed, and relative position of the shaft in the circumferential direction is carried out to determine the status of the motor body and the dragged equipment, and further control the operation status of the motor and equipment in real time, thereby achieving many specific functions such as servo and speed regulation. Here, using encoders as front-end measurement components not only greatly simplifies the measurement system, but also provides precision, reliability, and powerful functionality. An encoder is a rotary sensor that converts the physical quantities of position and displacement of rotating components into a series of digital pulse signals. These pulse signals are collected and processed by a control system, and a series of instructions are issued to adjust and change the operating state of the equipment. If the encoder is combined with a gear bar or a screw, it can also be used to measure the physical quantities of position and displacement of linear moving parts. Dongguan Kuaike Intelligent Equipment Encoder Basic Classification Encoder is a precision measuring device that tightly integrates mechanical and electronic components. It encodes and converts signals or data for communication, transmission, and storage of signal data. According to different characteristics, the classification of encoders is as follows: encoder and ruler: encoders that convert linear displacement into electrical signals are called rulers, and encoders that convert angular displacement into electrical signals are called encoders. Absolute value encoder: Provides information such as position, angle, and number of turns in increments of angles, with each angle increment assigned a unique encoding. Incremental encoder: provides information such as position, angle, and number of turns, defining the resolution rate based on the number of pulses per turn. Hybrid absolute value encoder: The hybrid absolute value encoder outputs two sets of information: one set of information is used to detect the position of magnetic poles and has absolute information function; The other group has exactly the same output information as the incremental encoder.
